How to verify a NAATI Certified Translator
- Find the CPN on the translator stamp. Current CPNs contain nine characters and begin with “CPN”.
- Use NAATI’s official Check a NAATI certification tool.
- Confirm the credential is current for the required translation direction, such as Chinese into English or English into Chinese.
- Check that the delivered translation identifies the translator, CPN, translation direction and completion date, and contains the applicable certification and stamp details.
A directory listing is optional and is not the same as credential verification. Verify the CPN and credential itself.
Real submission scenarios
Chinese document for an Australian visa or family application
The document may be issued in mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong or another jurisdiction and translated into English. Home Affairs says non-English documents must be translated; for translations completed in Australia, the translator’s NAATI practitioner number must be included. Submit the source document and translation as required by the specific visa checklist. The Department decides the required evidence and application result.
Overseas driving licence for Australian use
The licence, issuing country, language and Australian state or territory all matter. A NAATI English translation may help explain a non-English licence, but the original licence, eligibility, licence-conversion rules and any tests remain controlled by the relevant road authority, police rules and rental provider. Academic, court, banking or insurance submission
The receiving organisation may specify complete pages, stamps, reverse-side notes, certified copies or paper delivery. Ask it whether a PDF is sufficient and whether the source document or a certified copy must accompany the translation.

Original, copy and certification boundary
A clear colour scan or photo is normally enough for 澳洲ABC翻译（ABC Translation） to prepare a quote and translation. This does not mean every receiving institution accepts a scan alone. It may require the original, a certified copy, all pages, the reverse side or a particular upload format.

Correction and refund policy
Australian government institutions widely accept NAATI-certified translations. If a receiving institution gives written confirmation that a translation does not meet its NAATI translation-format requirement, 澳洲ABC翻译（ABC Translation） will correct it free of charge. If correction still cannot resolve that translation-format issue, the translation fee for that document will be refunded.
This policy does not cover eligibility, source-document problems, incomplete evidence, extra notarisation or authentication requirements, or the outcome of a visa, licence or other application.

Is every NAATI credential valid for every language direction?
No. Check the exact credential direction needed for the source and target languages.
Does a NAATI translation always need notarisation?
No universal rule applies. Translation and notarisation are separate services. Many Australian submissions need the translation without Notary Public work, while another institution or overseas-use process may require extra steps.
Must I submit the original document?
澳洲ABC翻译（ABC Translation） can usually work from a clear scan or photo. The receiving institution decides whether you must also submit or show the original, a certified copy or complete pages.
Is a PDF accepted?
